Volunteer Marketing & Outreach Coordinator

Reading at the Rock Library is an all-volunteer community library serving northwest Colorado Springs. We were created by neighbors who wanted to restore free, welcoming library services and programs for all ages after the closure of the former Rockrimmon Library.

We’re looking for a Volunteer Marketing & Outreach Coordinator to help more people discover our interim library, and that it’s free, friendly, and open to everyone.

Your exact tasks can match your interests and skills, but may include:

• Sharing information about our hours, programs, and services on our social media
• Helping design simple flyers or handouts for storytimes, book clubs, tutoring, yoga, and other programs
• Supporting email newsletter content (short updates, stories, calls to action)
• Reaching out to local schools, community groups, HOAs, and nearby businesses to help spread the word
• Collecting brief stories, quotes, or photos (with permission) that show the impact of the library

You do not need to do all of these. If you are strongest in one area, such as writing, social media, design, or outreach, then we can shape the role around that.

Flexible hours. Much of the work can be done remotely/from home. Occasional visits to the library are helpful for getting a feel for the space, taking photos, and connecting with the volunteer team.

This is an unpaid, volunteer position.

You might be a great fit if you:

• Enjoy writing clear, upbeat, community-focused messages
• Have basic comfort with at least one of the following: social media, email newsletters, Canva or other simple design tools, or creating print flyers
• Are organized and can follow through on small projects over time
• Care about libraries, literacy, and equitable access to community spaces

Nice-to-have (but not required):

• Experience in marketing, communications, PR, journalism, or nonprofit outreach
• Interest in looking at simple metrics (views, clicks, etc.) to see what’s working

What you’ll gain
