    Missing Pieces Support Group is a nonprofit organization organized by a group of women who have experienced pregnancy losses ranging from first-term miscarriages to stillborns. We are dedicated to uplifting underserved communities through advocacy, education, and resource connection. We understand the emotional and physical toll that pregnancy loss carries and are committed to supporting families through awareness, community, and accessible resources.

    ROLE OVERVIEW / PRIMARY PURPOSE

    The Board Treasurer is an executive, voting member of the Board of Directors and a key steward of the organization’s financial health, integrity, and sustainability. This role ensures strong fiscal oversight, transparency, and accountability while supporting strategic financial decision-making at the governance level.

    The Treasurer works closely with the Executive Director and Board leadership to guide financial planning, reporting, and compliance in alignment with MPSG’s mission and growth strategy.

    The Treasurer is accountable to the Board of Directors and operates within the authority granted by the bylaws. As with all board members, this role does not direct staff or take independent action outside of approved governance responsibilities unless expressly authorized by the Board.

    MPSG Board Members operate within the framework of: Lead. Fund. Recruit. Advocate.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

    1. Financial Stewardship & Governance – Lead
    • Provide financial leadership and guidance to support strategic decision-making
    • Ensure adherence to the approved annual operating budget
    • Monitor organizational financial performance and provide regular updates to the Board
    • Identify and communicate financial risks, trends, and opportunities
    • Ensure financial policies, internal controls, and procedures are followed
    1. Financial Reporting & Oversight
    • Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial statements to the Board
    • Ensure financial reports are clear, accurate, and aligned with board-level decision needs
    • Work with leadership to maintain up-to-date and accurate financial records
    • Support financial transparency and accountability across the organization
    1. Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure timely filing of all required tax documents, payroll liabilities, and regulatory filings
    • Oversee adherence to nonprofit financial compliance standards
    • Coordinate with external auditors or financial reviewers as needed
    • Address any financial control or recordkeeping gaps in collaboration with leadership
    1. Budgeting & Financial Planning – Fund
    • Partner with the Executive Director to develop and maintain the annual budget
    • Support financial forecasting and long-term sustainability planning
    • Help guide revenue strategy, including funding diversification and reserves planning
    • Monitor cash flow and ensure appropriate management of reserves and investments
    1. Board Engagement & Education
    • Help Board Members understand financial reports and key fiscal indicators
    • Provide guidance to support informed financial decision-making
    • Participate actively in board and committee meetings
    1. General Board Member Responsibilities

    As a member of the MPSG Board, the Treasurer will also:

    Lead

    • Actively participate in board and committee meetings
    • Serve as a strategic advisor and mission ambassador

    Fund

    • Fulfill the $1,000 annual give/get commitment
    • Participate in fundraising campaigns and events
    • Maintain 100% board giving participation

    Recruit

    • Identify and engage potential donors, partners, and volunteers

    Advocate

    • Represent MPSG within the community
    • Promote the organization’s mission and programs

    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience in financial management, accounting, or nonprofit finance
    • Strong understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance
    • Ability to interpret and communicate financial information clearly
    • High level of integrity and commitment to fiscal accountability
    • Experience with financial systems such as QuickBooks or similar platforms
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills

    Preferred but not required:

    • CPA, finance, or accounting background
    • Experience serving on a nonprofit board

    BOARD STRUCTURE & TIME COMMITMENT

    • Serve a 2-year renewable term
    • Attend monthly Board meetings (typically 1 hour)
    • Participate in Finance or relevant committee meetings
    • Dedicate approximately 8–10 hours per month
    • Participate in at least one signature MPSG event annually
