    Description

The Texas Railway Preservation Association (TRPA) is seeking a highly organized and personable Volunteer Coordinator & Engagement. Reporting directly to the Secretary, you will be the primary architect of our human capital strategy.

In this volunteer staff position, you aren't just "finding help"—you are building the elite team that will bring the SP 982 back to life. You will manage the lifecycle of our volunteers, ensuring that every person who joins the TRPA mission is vetted, trained, and positioned to make a maximum impact on our industrial legacy.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Workforce Architecture: Design and implement a robust volunteer recruitment strategy to attract mechanical, administrative, and creative talent.
    • Onboarding & Governance: Work under the Corporate Secretary to manage the "Archive of Record" for all volunteers, including background checks, liability waivers, and safety training certifications.
    • Deployment & Scheduling: Coordinate volunteer shifts for restoration sorties, community events, and headquarters development projects.
    • Institutional Memory: Maintain the Association’s volunteer database, tracking hours and contributions to support our grant-writing efforts and institutional reporting.
    • Culture Stewardship: Act as the primary point of contact for the TRPA community, fostering a culture of professional authority, safety, and "Industrial Power" across all departments.

    Professional Requirements

    • Administrative Discipline: Proven experience in HR, project management, or volunteer coordination, preferably within a non-profit or industrial environment.
    • Systems Proficiency: Experience managing databases or CRM tools; ability to organize complex schedules with absolute precision.
    • Exceptional Communication: The ability to represent the TRPA with professional authority when speaking to potential volunteers, partner organizations, and local Houstonians.
    • Regulatory Awareness: A basic understanding of non-profit compliance regarding volunteer labor and safety protocols.
    • Mission Alignment: A passion for Texas industrial history and a desire to build a sustainable, multi-generational team.

    The TRPA Advantage

You will be the heartbeat of the Association. Working within the Secretary’s department, you will gain deep insight into the legal and administrative governance of a rising institution while having the freedom to build a community from the ground up. You are the engineer of the people behind the power.

Join the TRPA. Empower the people.
