    ODCFL Volunteer Intake Specialist

    Reports To: Intake Coordinator / Program Director

    Position Summary

    ODCFL is seeking a compassionate, organized, and professional Volunteer Intake Specialist to serve as an initial point of contact for individuals and families seeking information, services, resources, or assistance from ODCFL.

    The Intake Specialist will collect and organize information, conduct initial screenings, explain available services, maintain accurate records, and connect individuals with the appropriate ODCFL program or community resource.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Respond professionally to intake inquiries by phone, email, or online forms.
    • Welcome individuals and families and explain the intake process.
    • Collect accurate and relevant information from applicants or participants.
    • Conduct initial eligibility and needs screenings based on ODCFL procedures.
    • Enter and maintain information in approved organizational systems.
    • Review submitted documents for completeness.
    • Identify the appropriate ODCFL program, department, or resource for each individual.
    • Schedule appointments or follow-up contacts when appropriate.
    • Make referrals to qualified community organizations and service providers.
    • Follow up on incomplete applications or required documentation.
    • Maintain confidentiality of participant and organizational information.
    • Document interactions accurately and professionally.
    • Escalate urgent, sensitive, or complex matters to the appropriate supervisor.
    • Follow ODCFL policies, procedures, and applicable privacy requirements.
    • Participate in staff and volunteer training.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • Experience in customer service, intake, education, social services, administration, or case support is preferred.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
    • Ability to communicate respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.
    • Comfortable handling confidential information.
    • Basic computer and data-entry skills.
    • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
    • Dependable and professional.

    Time Commitment

    This is a flexible, unpaid volunteer position. Scheduling may be arranged according to ODCFL's operational needs and the volunteer's availability.

    Compensation

    This is an unpaid volunteer position. No salary or hourly compensation is provided.

    Confidentiality

    The Intake Specialist must protect confidential information obtained through the intake process and may only access, use, or share information as authorized by ODCFL policies and applicable law.
