Casa Grande, AZ - One hour weekly Volunteer to be a friend to a Senior!
Details
Description
If you have a kind heart, are a good listener, and want your volunteer time to feel truly meaningful, this opportunity may be the perfect fit.
AdvisaCare Home Care and Hospice exists to support people during the most challenging times of their lives. The volunteer is part of a professional care team that comes alongside patients and families and helps however we can.
WHAT DOES A HOSPICE VOLUNTEER IN PATIENT SUPPORT DO?
Patient needs vary, but these are some of the common things we do:
- Listen to stories
- Have a conversation about life
- Sit with them and listen to music or watch TV
- Give the family a short respite
- Do their hobbies with them
- Get them a small snack or water
If this sounds like something you'd like to do, you will receive hospice classroom training, supplemental healthcare training, and will have a joint first patient visit with the volunteer coordinator so you feel confident and comfortable.
We are looking for an hour a week, but if you have more time to spare, that's ok too!
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Arizona Driver's License
- You must be aged 18 to work directly with our patients (but there are other opportunities still available to serve for younger teens. We can talk about it!)
- A negative Tuberculosis test result (your doctor can do this or we can test in our office)
- Background check
- Drug Screening
- Two-hour training class in our office located at Baseline and Gilbert
- Take home test and exercises corresponding to classroom training
- Ability to volunteer at least one hour a week
Thank you for considering! We hope to hear from you soon.
