The Volunteer Coordinator supports youth sports programs by recruiting, training, and managing volunteers who help deliver safe, inclusive, and positive athletic experiences for young people.
Key Responsibilities
Recruit, screen, and onboard volunteers (coaches, assistant coaches, referees, team parents, event helpers)
Coordinate volunteer schedules for practices, games, tournaments, and events
Provide orientation, training, and ongoing support to ensure volunteers understand policies, safety standards, and youth development goals
Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, addressing questions, concerns, and conflicts
Maintain volunteer records, background checks, and compliance documentation
Collaborate with program staff, coaches, and parents to ensure smooth program operations
Promote a positive, inclusive, and youth-centered sports environment
Recognize and retain volunteers through appreciation efforts and feedback
Skills & Qualifications
Experience working with volunteers, youth programs, or nonprofit organizations
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple schedules and priorities
Comfortable working with families, youth, and community partners
Commitment to youth development, teamwork, and sportsmanship
Background in youth sports (playing, coaching, or administration) preferred
