Our Host Families:
- Voluntarily welcome 1 or 2 high school exchange students of their choosing to join their family for a semester or a full school year.
- Ensure a safe and nurturing home environment for the student(s)
- Provide a room (can be shared with a similar aged host sibling) & his/her own bed
- Provide 3 meals per day
- Transportation to and from school and for extracurricular activities
- Give love and support to the student(s)
- Explore cultural differences and similarities
- Build lasting relationships with their new international son/daughter
Our Local Coordinators:
- Are excited to learn new cultures through engaging with high-school exchange student
- Do not need previous experience. This role is a great addition to any human services or education-based resume
- Can take advantage of the family-friendly, flexible schedule that complements a busy schedule (10-20 Hours/Month)
- Can earn annual performance-based incentive trips (including international trips to destinations like Europe, South America, Asia and more!)
- Have the opportunity for potential growth into a management position
- Share the hosting opportunity through connecting with people in person, social media, or other means.
- Identify qualified host families for our high school exchange students
- Work closely with exchange students, host families, and local high schools including monthly oversight of the exchange student
- Receive full training, teaching and ongoing support from the Field Manager
- Can earn supplemental income based on student placement and student oversight
Hosting a foreign exchange student and becoming a Local Coordinator is a great way to start to explore international opportunities! ETC works with the U.S. Department of State to find homes for high school foreign exchange students coming to the USA on a J-1 visa. Your role as a host family or as a Local Coordinator makes a profound impact in your community, the lives of students, your family, and our global mission of spreading international goodwill.
