    Description

Help Transform a Youth Empowerment Curriculum for Girls in Uganda

Rukundo International is seeking a creative volunteer with curriculum design and/or graphic design skills to help transform an activity-based youth curriculum into a polished, engaging training manual for our Girls Empowerment Program in rural Uganda.

This curriculum will be used by teachers and mentors working with girls ages 10–16 to build confidence, leadership, and life skills.

    About the Project

Rukundo International has a text-transcribed version of a youth empowerment curriculum designed for East African youth that uses games, group activities, and sports analogies to teach healthy decision-making, leadership, and personal responsibility.

The curriculum has already been painstakingly transcribed from a scanned manual, and we now need a volunteer to help turn this text into a visually engaging, easy-to-use training guide for teachers and mentors in Uganda.

    The final manual will include:

    • Clear activity instructions
    • Visual diagrams showing how to run games and activities
    • Reflection questions for group discussion
    • Simple icons and graphics
    • Rukundo International branding

    Volunteer Responsibilities

    The volunteer will help:

    • Transform the text into a clean, visually engaging manual layout
    • Design page templates for sessions and activities
    • Create simple diagrams illustrating how to play games and activities
    • Incorporate Rukundo International branding and colors
    • Prepare the final manual as a printable PDF and/or Canva template

    Ideal Skills

We welcome volunteers with experience in:

    • Graphic design
    • Curriculum or instructional design
    • Canva, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, or similar tools
    • Layout design for guides, workbooks, or manuals
    • Visual storytelling for education or training

Experience designing educational or youth program materials is a plus but not required.

    Time Commitment

Estimated 15–30 hours total, flexible schedule.

The work can be completed remotely from anywhere.

    Why This Matters

The final curriculum will be used to train mentors supporting girls in rural Uganda through Rukundo International’s Girls Empowerment Program, which has already served 1,700+ girls.

Your work will help create a tool that can empower young girls with:

    • confidence
    • leadership skills
    • healthy decision-making
    • a stronger vision for their future
