    Description

Volunteers are needed in various locations around Maricopa county to help with homework and tutoring support for children in foster families.

Even when foster children are placed in a loving and safe foster home, they have sometimes fallen behind in their education and need support in catching up to their grade level. Tutoring may include working with various subjects or grade levels.

Help your community by using your own experiences and knowledge! As a volunteer you will be matched to a foster family in your community. Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest does not have a specific curriculum you will be asked to follow. Shifts will occur inside the homes of foster families or the community. To provide consistency for our children, we ask that you are able to provide a semester long commitment.

A Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card is required for this volunteer opportunity. If you do not have a fingerprint card and need assistance obtaining one - please let our team know. Scholarships available if needed.

Locations may include: Phoenix, Laveen, Buckeye, Mesa
