    Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The World Disaster Center (WDC) is a globally respected nonprofit dedicated to redefining disaster management and empowering communities with the tools, insights, and technologies needed for preemptive action, effective response, and sustainable recovery. WDC bridges governments, NGOs, private sector partners, and volunteer networks to build resilient, disaster‑ready communities worldwide.

As CEO, you will lead the strategic vision and operational execution of an organization focused on transforming how the world prepares for, responds to, and recovers from disasters — turning crisis into opportunity and innovation. WDC adopts cutting‑edge tools such as real‑time data, predictive analytics, and collaborative technologies to deliver actionable insights when they matter most.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide visionary leadership and management of WDC’s global operations, volunteer networks, and strategic partnerships.
    • Strengthen WDC’s community impact by scaling programs, coordinating large‑scale initiatives, and enhancing volunteer engagement.
    • Advocate for disaster resilience through public representation, policy engagement, and outreach to governments, NGOs, corporations, and donors.
    • Collaborate with partners including IFB to translate volunteer‑sourced data and insights into financial inclusion tools (like AFR loans, microfinance, and disaster credit products).
    • Ensure organizational effectiveness, including operational excellence, financial sustainability, and transparent governance.
    • Build and support a diverse, inclusive environment that aligns with WDC’s mission and values.

    Qualifications

    • Proven executive experience leading complex organizations, preferably in international development, humanitarian response, or large community networks.
    • Strong communicator and advocate with demonstrated leadership, integrity, and authenticity.
    • Strategic thinker with a track record of building partnerships with government, private sector, and civil society stakeholders.
    • Commitment to mission‑driven work and the ability to balance long‑term vision with operational priorities.
    • Knowledge of disaster management, resilience planning, or related fields is highly desirable.

    Organizational Strengths & Vision

World Disaster Center is recognized for its innovation in disaster response, leveraging advanced technologies and collective human intelligence to empower communities worldwide with actionable insights. WDC’s mission and vision center on not only responding to crises but helping communities transform disasters into growth and innovation opportunities using data‑driven solutions and collaborative networks.

WDC continues to pioneer global approaches to disaster preparedness and recovery, enabling underserved populations to effectively prepare for and navigate emergencies. The organization’s broad network includes volunteer experts, real‑time analytics tools, and international partners committed to building resilient systems.
