    Description

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research, with events held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide. Chicago is home to one of the largest Walks in the country annually raising over $1.2 million, and we need passionate volunteers like you to make it a success!

    Make an Impact

When you volunteer with the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, you’re directly contributing to advancing research, supporting families, and raising awareness for millions affected by this disease. Join a dedicated group of like-minded individuals passionate about making a difference here in Chicago!

The Community Engagement Committee members are volunteers who serve under the direction of the Community Engagement Chair and work in conjunction with a staff lead to ensure Walk to End Alzheimer’s hits their team and Champions Club goals. This will involve recruiting and retaining teams and cultivating former, potential and current Champions. These efforts will increase participation, which will raise revenue and awareness to help us achieve our mission.

    Types of Volunteer Activities

    Team Retention

    • Make monthly phone calls or texts (around 30) to past and current team captains.
    • Encourage team registration, share event updates, and offer support throughout the year.
    • We provide scripts and contact lists in advance.
    • Calls can be made at your convenience each month.
    • You'll track outreach efforts and share insights with staff and fellow volunteers.

    Community Outreach

    • Attend community tabling events.
    • Distribute flyers to local businesses.
    • Host a summer Family & Friends Recruitment event to promote Walk participation.

    Mission Committee (Champions Club Stewardship)

    • Connect with Champions Club members (those who raised $500+ last year or this year).
    • Encourage them to register and become a Champion again.
    • Thank them through calls, emails, or handwritten notes.
