Are you a leader who is passionate about empowering the military community? At the Veteran Project Manager Mentor Alliance (VPMMA), we are a 100% volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to equipping veterans, service members, and their spouses for career greatness in project management. We are looking for a Volunteer Program Manager to serve as a key operational leader within our Volunteer Directorate. In this role, you will be the heartbeat of our workforce, ensuring our "Support Staff Volunteers" have the tools, training, and recognition they need to transform lives.
What You'll Do (Impact: ~12–15 Hours/Month)
You will work directly with the Director of Volunteers and the Chief Volunteer Officer to manage the systems that sustain our mission.
- Recruitment & Intake Oversight: Collaborate with Digital Recruiters to maintain a steady pipeline of mission-aligned talent.
- Onboarding & Orientation: Lead the onboarding and orientation process for new staff, ensuring they are grounded in our values of Commitment, Empowerment, Community, and Advocacy. You'll ensure every volunteer understands our unique "working board" structure and organizational guidelines.
- Development & Retention: Empower our team by promoting professional development, including access to Google Certificates on Coursera. You will also drive recognition programs, such as "Volunteer of the Month," to celebrate our team's dedication.
- Offboarding & Legacy: Manage the offboarding process for departing volunteers, ensuring we capture feedback and provide letters of recommendation for those who have made significant contributions.
Who You Are
- A Remote Leader: You have experience in HR, volunteer coordination, or project management and are comfortable leading in a digital environment.
- Technically Savvy: You are proficient in Google Workspace and can navigate project tools (like Flowlu) to keep operations seamless
- A Cultural Champion: You uphold the highest ethical standards, including our commitment to Fairness, Access, and Cultural Competence (FACC)
- A Strong Communicator: You can articulate the VPMMA mission with passion and maintain professional, respectful communication across a diverse remote team.
Why Join Us?
- Make a Tangible Impact: Your work directly supports veterans' and military spouses' transition to meaningful civilian careers.
- Upskill & Network: Gain access to specialized training and connect with a dynamic network of project management professionals.
- Supportive Environment: We value flexibility and open communication, working together to balance our volunteer duties with life's unpredictable moments
