About Us:

DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to reducing risks for children and vulnerable people online. We are currently building 65square, the world’s healthiest social media and dating platform, designed with game-like features and characteristics of an MMO. Our goal is to create a safer, more positive online space for users.

Role Description:

We are looking for a creative director/team lead for our project 65square - it's a social media app where everyone will be verified (among a ton of other great healthier social media features).Lead a team of UI/UX designers, music/sound designers, graphics artists, wellness experts & concept artists.If you’re passionate about online safety, social media innovation, or game-like experiences, we encourage you to apply!

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Creative Direction

• Develop and implement cohesive visual identities across platforms.
• Lead design team in creating engaging materials (print, digital, video).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on campaigns and projects.
• Ensure brand consistency and quality.

Team Leadership

• Manage and mentor design team members.
• Foster collaboration, creativity, and professional growth.
• Conduct design critiques and provide constructive feedback.

Strategy and Planning

• Develop and execute creative strategies aligned with organizational goals.
• Conduct market research and analyze design trends.
• Collaborate with stakeholders on project planning and execution.

Communication and Collaboration

• Present design concepts to stakeholders.
• Communicate design decisions and rationale.
• Collaborate with external partners (vendors, freelancers).

Qualifications

• MUST be 18 years and above.
• Design experience,and leadership experience preferred.
• Experience with UI/UX design.
• Knowledge of web development and accessibility.
• Familiarity with project management software (Asana, Trello)
• Portfolio showcasing creative direction and design expertise.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, or similar tools.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
• Non-profit experience or passion for social impact.
