    Safe Haven Space

    Northern Virginia preferred | DMV welcome | Virtual-first | ~4–8 hrs/week | 6-month commitment

    Safe Haven Space supports newcomer and immigrant youth and families through culturally responsive wellness, connection, and education programs. We are a small, growing nonprofit building sustainable programs and a strong volunteer community to support them.

    We’re looking for someone who enjoys organizing people, strengthening culture, and helping volunteers feel supported and connected. This role focuses on recruitment, engagement, and retention rather than administrative operations. It’s a good fit for someone interested in nonprofit leadership, community building, or HR-adjacent experience.

    What you’ll do

    • Coordinate volunteer recruitment outreach and track candidates
    • Help match volunteers to roles based on interest and strengths
    • Develop simple onboarding and check-in processes
    • Maintain a volunteer roster and engagement tracker
    • Organize appreciation efforts such as thank-you notes and recognition moments
    • Track birthdays, milestones, and service anniversaries
    • Support communication between leadership and volunteers
    • Identify engagement challenges and suggest improvements
    • Help build a welcoming, mission-aligned volunteer culture

    Good fit if you

    • Have experience coordinating people, teams, or student groups
    • Are organized and comfortable keeping track of details
    • Communicate clearly and reliably follow through
    • Enjoy supporting others and helping groups function smoothly
    • Are interested in nonprofit leadership, HR, or community management
    • Prefer structure but can work in a growing environment

    Prior nonprofit, education, campus leadership, or community organizing experience is helpful but not required.
