    About Carolina Boxer Rescue

Carolina Boxer Rescue (CBR) is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming boxers in need. We serve North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia, relying on generous donors, dedicated volunteers, and community partnerships to support our mission.

    About the Opportunity

Are you a strong researcher who wants to make a difference for animals in need? Carolina Boxer Rescue is looking for a Volunteer Grant Researcher to help identify funding opportunities that support our rescue operations and programs.

In this role, you'll help us discover foundations, corporate giving programs, and other grantmakers whose funding priorities align with our mission. Your research will help us build a strong pipeline of prospective funders and expand the financial resources available to the boxers in our care.

The primary focus of this position is grant research and prospect qualification. Volunteers who have grant writing experience or would like to develop those skills may also have opportunities to assist with grant applications.

    Responsibilities

    • Research foundations, corporate giving programs, and other potential grant funding sources.
    • Identify opportunities that support animal welfare, veterinary care, rescue and rehabilitation, senior dogs, hospice care through our One Last Couch program, and general operating expenses.
    • Evaluate funding eligibility, geographic restrictions, application requirements, deadlines, and funding priorities.
    • Research prospective funders' giving histories and typical award amounts when information is available.
    • Maintain an organized grant prospect pipeline with funder details, deadlines, eligibility notes, and next steps.
    • Summarize promising opportunities and recommend which ones CBR should prioritize.
    • Monitor funding sources for new opportunities and upcoming application cycles.
    • Collaborate with CBR's Director of Fundraising & Events to align research with organizational priorities.
    • Optional: Assist with drafting or preparing grant applications if interested and qualified.

    Qualifications

    • Strong online research and information-gathering skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to evaluate information and communicate findings clearly.
    • Reliable follow-through and ability to work independently.
    • Comfortable using spreadsheets or other tools to organize research.
    • Experience with grant research, grant writing, prospect research, or nonprofit fundraising is helpful but not required.
    • Passion for animal welfare and the mission of Carolina Boxer Rescue.

    What You'll Gain

    • The opportunity to directly support the rescue and care of boxers in need.
    • Experience in nonprofit fundraising and grant prospect research.
    • The opportunity to develop grant writing skills if interested.
    • A flexible, remote volunteer role where your research can make a meaningful impact.

    How to Get Involved
