    Description

Use Your Sewing Talents to Bring Comfort and Connection

Amedisys Hospice is seeking compassionate volunteers who enjoy sewing and crafting to help create comfort fidget blankets for hospice patients living with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, memory loss, or other cognitive and sensory challenges.

These handmade blankets provide soothing sensory stimulation and meaningful engagement through a variety of textures and tactile elements. Fidget blankets can help reduce anxiety, promote comfort, and provide a calming activity for patients receiving hospice care.

    What You'll Do

      • Sew and assemble fidget blankets from your home using your creativity and sewing skills
      • Incorporate safe sensory elements such as ribbons, textured fabrics, pockets, zippers, and other tactile materials
      • Follow provided safety guidelines to ensure items are appropriate for hospice patients
      • Donate completed blankets to Amedisys Hospice patients and families within the communities we serve
      • Volunteer on a schedule that works best for you

    Who We're Looking For

      • Individuals with basic to advanced sewing skills
      • Quilters, crafters, sewing groups, service organizations, students, faith-based groups, and community members
      • Volunteers who are detail-oriented and committed to patient safety
      • Anyone looking for a meaningful way to support hospice patients through a creative hobby

    The Impact You'll Make

A handmade fidget blanket can provide comfort, reduce restlessness and anxiety, encourage engagement, and enhance quality of life for hospice patients facing memory and cognitive challenges.

Your gift of time and talent offers more than a blanket. It provides comfort, compassion, and a reminder that someone cares.

    Time Commitment

Flexible. Volunteers may create a single blanket, participate in a seasonal project, or contribute on an ongoing basis.
