    Description

Garden Program Coordinator -Special Education School Garden

Volunteer Gardening Coordinator (Grow Ahead Program)

If you have a love for gardening and enjoy working with children, we’d love your help! We’re looking for a dedicated volunteer to support both the organization and hands-on delivery of our gardening program at a small therapeutic school for children with mental health and special education needs.

    What We Have:

    🌿 An 18-foot year-round greenhouse with a koi pond

🌸 Outdoor sensory and pollinator gardens with musical instruments

    🌱 A four-tier indoor grow rack for year-round planting

📘 A ready-to-use curriculum focused on gardening, wildlife, nutrition, and wellness

    What We Need:

🌼 A passionate, reliable volunteer who enjoys working with kids and can help bring our Grow Ahead Gardening & Wellness Program to life each week

🪴 Assistance caring for plants both indoors and outdoors

🧤 Support in planning, organizing, and facilitating weekly student activities (Thursdays, 12–2 PM)

🌻 Input on refining and expanding our growing curriculum

Thanks to recent grant funding from the Connecticut Department of Agriculture, our program is now well-equipped with supplies, tools, and lesson materials. We’ve built a strong foundation—and now we’re looking for someone who’s excited to build on it. This is a great opportunity for someone creative, dependable, and community-minded to help children connect with nature, wellness, and growth—both in the garden and beyond.
