ISU's AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program combats social isolation and supports mental wellness among seniors in Power, Bannock, Bingham, and Shoshone counties.
The program pairs senior volunteers age 55 or better with socially isolated peers ae 55 or better to foster connection through regular interactions. Each volunteer is matched with two seniors, spending 1.75 hours in-person and conducting two 30-minute phone calls with each participant monthly over a three-month period. Participating in activities and community events is encouraged.
This initiative promotes meaningful relationships and improved quality of life for older adults in rural Idaho communities.
We are in need of volunteers, as well as members for our Advisory Council, and health care or related institutions to be volunteer stations where volunteers and program participants can meet.
If you are interested in more information or would like to volunteer, you can respond via this posting, or call us at 208-282-6275 or email us at rsvpseniors@isu.edu. We look forward to serving with you!
Program is available in all of Bannock, Bingham, Power, and Shoshone counties in Idaho.
Volunteers will fill out an enrollment form and attend an in person or online orientation. We will facilitate an introduction meeting to your assigned peers and volunteer station.
Those interested in being part of the Advisory Council or being a Volunteer Station will receive further information on those processes.
