    Description

Caregivers provide essential support to patients, but they also need breaks. As a Caregiver Respite Volunteer with CorsoCare, you’ll provide short-term support for families, giving caregivers time to rest, run errands, or take care of personal needs while ensuring patients remain safe and comfortable.

    What You’ll Do

    • Sit with patients in the home or care setting while caregivers take a needed break
    • Provide companionship, emotional support, and safety for patients
    • Engage patients in light activities such as conversation, reading, or quiet reflection
    • Offer peace of mind to families knowing their loved one is in capable, caring hands

    How On-Call Volunteering Works

    • Volunteers are placed on an on-call schedule for their local area (within about 1 hour of their home base) based on their availability
    • Volunteers are required to provide support on a recurring basis for their scheduled on-call shifts.
      • For example, if you are scheduled for Wednesdays, you may be called to provide respite on any Wednesday when a caregiver request occurs
    • While unforeseen circumstances may occasionally prevent participation, regular commitment to your scheduled shifts is expected

    Why Volunteer

    • Make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families
    • Flexible, on-call schedule tailored to your personal availability
    • Gain experience in healthcare, social work, or volunteer support programs

    Requirements

    • Compassion, reliability, and a caring attitude
    • Completion of volunteer training program
    • Background check and TB test

Provide compassionate support for families while giving caregivers the break they need – be there when it matters most.
