    Description

    About KrimeWatch Foundation Inc. (KFI):

KrimeWatch Foundation Inc. (KFI) is a 501(c)(3) civic technology organization built on a simple premise: public safety reporting should be privacy-first, evidence-grade, and free from panic monetization. KFI operates as the unmonetized public-trust parent entity managing zero-knowledge citizen intake apps (KrimeScene), core cloud infrastructure, and specialized machine-learning moderation (KrimeAI). To ensure sustainable funding without relying on ad-supported surveillance loops, KFI licenses its commercial software extensions to a taxable subsidiary, KrimeWatch Commercial Inc. (KCI). Commercial revenues flow back to KFI as equity growth and endowment dividends.

    Role Overview:

We are seeking an applied machine learning ethicist, computer vision scholar, or civic tech executive to join KFI's 5-person Board of Directors. This role leads algorithmic governance, reviewing in-house Small Language Models (KrimeAI) to eliminate demographic bias and ensure ethical human-in-the-loop review systems.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Oversee quarterly independent algorithmic and bias audits of KFI’s multi-modal AI classification models and automated moderation workflows.
    • Guide KFI’s R&D roadmap for domain-specific Small Language Models (SLMs) used in hoax detection and evidence pre-classification.
    • Ensure AI systems adhere to responsible AI principles, preventing automated racial, demographic, or geographic profiling.
    • Participate in four 90-minute quarterly virtual board meetings and one annual strategic planning review.

    Qualifications & Selection Criteria:

    • Senior research or industry experience in applied machine learning, computer vision, AI ethics, or civic technology platform development.
    • Strict IRS Independence: Candidates must not hold any financial equity, employment, consulting contract, or stock options in KrimeWatch Commercial Inc. (KCI).
    • Background in human-in-the-loop moderation or bias mitigation frameworks.

    Compensation, Insurance & Term:

    • Term: 2-year renewable term.
    • Compensation: Unpaid voluntary service in strict compliance with federal tax laws governing 501(c)(3) entities.
    • Protection & Expenses: 100% reimbursement for approved direct out-of-pocket expenses. Full coverage under KFI’s Directors & Officers (D&O) Liability Insurance policy.
