    Description

    The Volunteer Zoom Instructor plays a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and empowering virtual space for individuals impacted by sexual abuse and/or domestic violence. This role centers compassion, active listening, and respect for each participant’s lived experience. The instructor facilitates sessions that promote healing, connection, and personal growth while honoring participant autonomy and boundaries.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Facilitate virtual workshops, support groups, or healing sessions via Zoom
    • Create a trauma-informed, survivor-centered environment grounded in safety, trust, and respect
    • Encourage voluntary participation without pressure, honoring individual comfort levels
    • Use Zoom tools (breakout rooms, chat, screen share) to support gentle engagement
    • Practice active listening and respond with empathy and non-judgment
    • Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold ethical boundaries
    • Recognize emotional triggers and respond appropriately using trauma-informed approaches
    • Provide participants with resources or referrals when appropriate (within role limits)
    • Complete brief session notes or attendance tracking as required

    Qualifications

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to lead with empathy, patience, and cultural humility
    • Comfortable facilitating conversations around sensitive topics
    • Basic proficiency with Zoom or willingness to learn
    • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and appropriate boundaries
    • Reliable and consistent in attendance and communication

    Preferred Skills & Experience

    • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and survivor-centered practices
    • Experience in peer support, advocacy, counseling, or facilitation
    • Familiarity with issues related to domestic violence and/or sexual abuse
    • Ability to create calming, inclusive, and empowering virtual spaces

    Time Commitment

    • 2–3 hours per month, monthly sessions
