Overview of Position: TIHAN’s Human Resources (HR) Committee is a group of volunteers with experience in personnel management.The Committee members assist with compliance with regulations relating to personnel management (including both paid and unpaid staff), make recommendations regarding agency staffing, help recruit and screen candidates for employment, make recommendations to the Board about personnel policies and practices, and serve as ambassadors, keeping TIHAN connected to our constituents and partners.
Benefits to the Volunteer: The purpose of the Human Resource Committee is to provide strategic support for the Human Resource functions of TIHAN. The committee’s role is to consult with provide advice on a variety of human resource related issues.
Specific Tasks:
- to ensure compliance with regulations relating to personnel management, including both paid and unpaid staff,
- to make recommendations re agency staffing,
- to recruit and screen candidates for employment,
- to make recommendations to the Board re personnel policies and practices,
- to ensure that staff receive compensation comparable to similar positions in other nonprofit organizations in the community
- to serve as a resource and support for staff and volunteers,
- to serve as ambassadors and information-providers to the community, keeping TIHAN connected to our constituents and partners, and
- other duties as needed
Time Required: 5 hours per month
Qualifications/Experiences:
Preferred: previous experience serving on a non-profit board or committee, background in human resorces or personnel management.Must maintain strict confidentiality re personnel matters.
