Consider The Homeless volunteers drive our mobile soup-kitchen around Berkeley to deliver homemade soup, bread, and survival supplies to unhoused folks two evenings every week, rain or shine. The van holds a supply of cups and spoons, as well as warm clothes, socks, blankets, toiletries and other items we can offer to help folks survive without permanent shelter. Despite our best efforts, keeping all these items organized in a way that makes them easy to access when needed can be challenging. We also continually receive donations of additional items that must be stored either in the van, or in the small shed we maintain for overflow. Here's where you come in.
As CTH Supplies Organizer, you will come to the van (currently in Central Berkeley) every couple of weeks or so (when it is not out on a soup run) to organize contents, refill supplies as needed from the shed, and let us know what we are short on. A small team could do this together, if you prefer.
What / Who is Consider The Homeless?
We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit, local grassroots organization in Berkeley, CA that is 100% volunteer -- there are no paid staff. All donations directly fund our programs. Consider The Homeless! delivers food and survival supplies to unhoused Berkeley residents living on the street, in their car, or in an encampment. Unlike other services for the homeless, we do not require that people find their way to us. We go to them, and we meet them where they are...literally and figuratively.
Our primary activity is a mobile soup kitchen that delivers hot, homemade soup with bread and survival supplies in the evening every Thursday and Sunday, rain or shine.
