    Become our Head of Operations. Help us make a difference in African Governance

    What if you could be part of making Africa great and change things for future generations. OpenGov Africa is a civic-tech initiative using open-source technology, data, and community collaboration to strengthen transparency, accountability, and citizen participation across Africa.

    As a new startup, we are seeking a highly dedicated, self starting & motivated Head of Operations Volunteer to help build and manage the internal systems and processes that drive OpenGov Africa forward.

    As the Operations Lead, the following teams report to you:(Community management, HR/People Ops, & Project Managers).

    This means that you will play a critical role in ensuring efficiency, smooth execution of programs, and alignment between teams. You will also help set up the frameworks, tools, and practices that allow the organization to scale.

    This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about systems, organization, and creating streamlined processes in a mission-driven community.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Process Development: Design, document, and refine operational workflows to enhance productivity.
    • Resource Management: Coordinate allocation of tools, software, and resources across teams.
    • Team Support: Provide operational support to leadership, project managers, and volunteer teams.
    • Systems Integration: Implement digital tools (e.g., Google Workspace, GitHub, Discord) for team collaboration.
    • Monitoring & Reporting: Track and report on key operational metrics to leadership.
    • Problem Solving: Identify bottlenecks and proactively implement solutions to improve team efficiency.

    Qualifications

    • Experience or strong interest in community operations, business administration, or organizational development.
    • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
    • Comfortable with remote tools (Google Workspace, project management apps, GitHub, Discord).
    • Detail-oriented and proactive problem solver.
    • Passion for governance, social impact, or civic engagement.

    Expected Requirements

    • Time Commitment: Approx. 10-30 hours per week (flexible, remote).
    • Commitment Period: Minimum 12 months preferred.
    • Remote Work: Must have reliable internet access.
