    Description

Black Girl Joy, Inc. is seeking a volunteer pastor or spiritually grounded leader to help support and co-facilitate Spiritual programming. Black Girl Joy is building a reflective and spiritually centered line of programming for adult Black women focused on healing, rest, and personal growth.

This is not a traditional Bible study or teaching environment. It is a sacred space where women reflect, listen, and process life in a supportive and emotionally safe setting. The role of the pastor is to help hold the spiritual tone of the space through prayer, Scripture, and gentle guidance, while respecting each woman’s autonomy and personal journey.

We are looking for someone who understands that pastoral care includes listening, restraint, and creating emotional safety, not directing or advising people about personal life decisions unless invited.

    Responsibilities

    • Help facilitate gatherings alongside existing leadership
    • Open or close sessions with prayer or Scripture when appropriate
    • Support a calm, reflective, and respectful environment
    • Model listening without judgment or unsolicited advice
    • Uphold confidentiality and emotional safety standards
    • Lead weekly or monthly prayer
    • Other programming as needed, including retreats.

    Ideal Qualities

    • Strong emotional maturity and self awareness
    • Ability to hold space without centering personal opinions
    • Comfort with diverse life experiences and perspectives
    • Respect for personal boundaries and autonomy
    • A compassionate and grounded presence
    • Alignment with Christian faith and values
    • Experience helping those reclaim their faith after spiritual injury
    • Technical savviness - ability to navigate social media, emails, and (optional) website posting.

Time Commitment Approximately 1 to 2 gatherings per month, plus occasional planning conversations.

Black Girl Joy Black Girl Joy is a nonprofit organization based in West Michigan that centers rest, wellness, nature, and connection for adult Black women. Our community events are designed to support healing and joy in everyday life.

If you feel called to serve in this type of space, we would love to hear from you.
