    Description

    Job Description

The Novena of Grace is a nine-day preached retreat hosted at the Chapel of St. Ignatius. Each year, the Ignatian Spirituality Center, in partnership with Seattle University - University Ministry, offers this retreat to Seattle University students, faculty, staff, and the wider local faith community. The program is livestreamed, with participants joining regionally and along the West Coast.

The Tech Coordinator is responsible for setting up, operating, and delivering the livestream technology for the full duration of the retreat. This role requires independent management of the livestream workflow, including equipment setup, live broadcast operation, and post-event teardown. The Tech Coordinator must be comfortable troubleshooting in real time and maintaining a reliable, high-quality stream in a live liturgical environment.

Seattle University Information Technology Services provides a laptop, secure web access, and necessary equipment for use during the retreat.

    Responsibilities

This role includes but is not limited to:

    • Setting up and breaking down the livestream control center, including laptop, camera and tripod, audio interface/mixer, microphones, power distribution, and network connections
    • Configuring and operating livestream software, including OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) Studio and YouTube Studio
    • Connecting and managing audio inputs for spoken word and live music to ensure clear, balanced sound throughout the broadcast
    • Monitoring livestream performance during each session, including audio levels, video framing, and stream health
    • Managing basic live camera framing and movement to appropriately capture speakers, presiders, and musicians
    • Troubleshooting technical issues in real time, including audio, video, or connectivity concerns
    • Ensuring recordings are properly saved and delivered to Ignatian Spirituality Center staff in a timely manner
    • Following established technical run-of-show procedures and collaborating as needed with ISC and University Ministry staff on site

    Relevant Experience

    • Hands-on experience with livestreaming platforms and workflows using OBS Studio and YouTube Studio
    • Experience independently setting up and breaking down a full livestream control station
    • Working knowledge of audio signal flow (e.g., XLR microphones, wireless receivers, audio interfaces) and ability to balance audio levels in real time
    • Comfort troubleshooting live technical issues under time constraints
    • Familiarity with camera framing and basic live camera movement during live events
    • Ability to follow detailed technical procedures for livestream operation, including start/stop protocols and audio monitoring
    • Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a liturgical or event-based environment
    • Prior experience supporting religious services, retreats, lectures, or live events (preferred but not required)

    Compensation & Schedule

    • Schedule: Contracted for 2 hours per day
    • Stipend: $21.30/hour
    • Dates: March 5–13, 2026 (9 days), plus one required training session during the week of February 16, 2026 (time and location TBD)
    • Total commitment: 10 days
