Volunteer with Veterans in Hospice Care in the Worcester Area

    Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer Opportunity

Are you a veteran or active service member who wants to support fellow veterans on their final journey? Autumn Hospice is seeking Veteran Volunteers to provide companionship and meaningful connection to veterans receiving hospice care.

    About Autumn Hospice

Autumn Hospice provides compassionate, patient‑centered end‑of‑life care focused on comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Volunteers are a valued part of our interdisciplinary team, offering presence, connection, and emotional support to patients and their families.

The Role of a Veteran Volunteer

As a Veteran Volunteer, you may:

    • Provide companionship and conversation to veteran patients
    • Offer emotional support grounded in shared military experience
    • Participate in veteran recognition activities, including ceremonial pinnings
    • Assist with Veterans’ Cafés and commemorative events such as Memorial Day and Veterans Day

Through our partnership with We Honor Veterans, we strive to match veteran volunteers with veteran patients whenever possible, fostering connection, respect, and camaraderie.

    Why Volunteer with Us

    • Serve fellow veterans in a deeply meaningful way
    • Be part of a locally owned hospice serving communities across Massachusetts
    • Receive comprehensive training and ongoing support from our hospice team
    • Make a lasting impact during one of the most important moments in a person’s life

Veteran Volunteers must be veterans or active service members, reside in Massachusetts, and be able to travel throughout the Worcester region to visit veterans in person—whether in private homes, assisted living communities, or skilled nursing facilities.

If you are interested in honoring and supporting fellow veterans through hospice volunteer service, we would be grateful to hear from you. Apply today to join the Autumn Hospice volunteer team.
