    Description

    Claremont Fire Restoration

Help the City of Boise and Ada Soil & Water Conservation District restore areas in the foothills impacted by this summer's Claremont Fire. A significant amount of old Antelope bitterbrush (Purshia tridentata) burned in both Five Mile and Orchard Gulch during the Claremont Fire. Bitterbrush is an important native shrub that provides food and cover for wildlife and contributes to healthy, resilient landscapes. Volunteers can support the regeneration of bitterbrush by strategically caching bitterbrush seeds in the legacy footprint of a bitterbrush that burned in the Claremont Fire. By participating in seed caching, volunteers can directly support habitat restoration while gaining hands-on experience with native plants, local ecosystems, and restoration practices.

We will meet at the Shaw Road Parking lot for those who wish to carpool. Parking is extremely limited at these locations so please consider carpooling or biking to the work sites. Remember to bring a refillable water bottle, wear or bring sun protection, and wear close toed shoes. Tools, seed, water and snacks will be provided. A portable toilet will be available.
