    Description

Be a Comforting Presence: Become a Vigil Volunteer with Optage Hospice

Some of life's most meaningful moments happen when someone simply shows up and stays present.

Optage Hospice is seeking compassionate volunteers to serve as Vigil Volunteers for patients who may be in the final days or hours of life. Vigil volunteers provide a calming presence, ensuring that no patient faces this sacred time alone.

As a Vigil Volunteer, you may:

    • Sit quietly at a patient's bedside
    • Offer companionship through your presence
    • Read, listen to music, pray (if welcomed), or share gentle conversation
    • Provide reassurance and comfort in a peaceful environment
    • Support patients and families during a tender transition

No special experience is required—just a compassionate heart, a willingness to be present, and a commitment to honoring the dignity of each person.

Vigil volunteering is a profound way to offer comfort and kindness when it is needed most. Your presence can bring peace not only to patients, but also to their loved ones.

If you feel called to this meaningful volunteer opportunity, please contact the Optage Hospice Volunteer Team to learn more.

💙 Sometimes the greatest gift we can give is simply being there.
