    Description

Teach English, Learn Spanish and Make a Difference at Local Schools from Buenos Aires!

TEACH BUENOS AIRES: Empowering Futures through English

Teach Buenos Aires offers a unique opportunity for native or C1 level English speakers to volunteer their English teaching skills while immersing themselves in Argentine culture and learning Spanish. The program is dedicated to empowering individuals from vulnerable communities in Buenos Aires by providing quality English education to open doors to new opportunities.

    The Basics

Volunteers will teach English for 15 hours per week, assisting experienced local teachers and leading their own conversational workshops and classes, both in-person and online. Teaching takes place at a small language school in downtown Buenos Aires and at partnering small schools and safe community centers in the city and surrounding province, primarily impacting children and individuals from underserved backgrounds.

In exchange for their dedication, volunteers receive comfortable, spacious shared accommodation with two other participants in a charming house in downtown Buenos Aires.

While the primary focus is on English teaching and assistance, volunteers have the opportunity to take 20 hours of Spanish classes per week in downtown Buenos Aires (Monday-Friday) to enhance their cultural immersion. Please note that these Spanish classes require a separate payment to cover teacher salaries.

Program Overview: Master Spanish While Making a Difference

This unique program combines intensive, in-person Buenos Aires Spanish language classes with a volunteer teaching initiative. It serves as a true Argentina Spanish immersion course, allowing volunteer English teachers to rapidly develop their skills while actively contributing to the local community.

The program functions as an independent Buenos Aires Spanish School, operating without government or external funding. Participant fees directly support the salaries of local instructors and sustain the school's operations.

    Spanish Course Structure & Academics

The academic framework is highly structured, fully accredited, and designed for rapid language acquisition:

    • Intensive Daily Spanish Classes Schedule: Participants attend in-person Spanish language classes every weekday (Monday through Friday) from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM (4 hours daily).
    • Progressive Level System: The curriculum features 8 distinct levels, accommodating everyone from absolute beginners to near-fluent speakers.
    • Timeline per Level: Each proficiency level takes 4 weeks to complete.
    • Assessment & Materials: Students receive a comprehensive textbook. Each level concludes with a review and a formal exam to ensure solid retention before advancing.
    • Spanish Class Size: Group classes are kept intentionally "super small" to maximize personalized attention.
    • Expert Faculty: All courses are developed and led by professional, university-level instructors.

Spanish Language Cultural Immersion & Volunteer Integration

The program uses Buenos Aires as a "living laboratory" for language learning:

    • Complementary Schedule: The morning in-person Spanish language classes are specifically timed to complement afternoon English teaching volunteer shifts.
    • Cultural Connection: The Argentina Spanish immersion courses focus on practical, local communication—equipping students with the language skills needed to share mate, discuss football, and seamlessly integrate into daily Argentine life.

The program offers practical teaching experience, professional development (including optional TEFL certification), and a deeply rewarding international experience. It's led by a team of female educators from Buenos Aires and UK universities, fostering a supportive community.
