    About Little Haiti BK

    Little Haiti BK is a community-focused organization dedicated to supporting Brooklyn’s Haitian community, local businesses, property owners, residents, and neighborhood stakeholders through economic development, community programming, cultural initiatives, outreach, and special events.

    Position Overview

    Little Haiti BK is seeking a reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Volunteer Accounting & Finance Intern to support our finance, grant, program, and event activities.

    This opportunity is ideal for a college student, recent graduate, career changer, or emerging professional seeking hands-on experience in nonprofit accounting, grant budgeting, financial administration, and community development.

    Responsibilities

    • Organize receipts, invoices, reimbursements, and payment records.
    • Enter and maintain accurate financial information in spreadsheets or accounting systems.
    • Assist with tracking organizational, grant, program, and event expenses.
    • Help monitor budgets and compare projected expenses with actual spending.
    • Prepare expense summaries and supporting documentation for grant reports.
    • Support the grant team with budgets and financial documents for funding applications.
    • Assist program and event teams with purchases, vendor payments, reimbursements, and expense tracking.
    • Organize vendor invoices, contracts, and payment documentation.
    • Assist with bank and credit-card reconciliations under supervision.
    • Maintain confidential and well-organized digital financial records.
    • Help prepare basic financial reports for organizational leadership.
    • Provide additional accounting and administrative support as needed.

    Ideal Candidate

    • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in accounting, finance, business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field.
    • Basic knowledge of accounting or bookkeeping principles.
    • Experience using Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
    • Familiarity with QuickBooks or another accounting platform is a plus.
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work independently while communicating when assistance is needed.
    • Responsible and trustworthy when handling confidential information.
    • Interest in nonprofit work, community development, grant management, programs, or special events.
    • Haitian Creole or French language skills are helpful but not required.

    Availability

    Applicants must be available for 25–35 hours per week. The schedule may include weekday, evening, and occasional weekend hours based on programs, meetings, and community events.

    Priority consideration will be given to applicants with open and flexible availability.
