    Description

This opportunity comes at the request of building staff who recently identified that some residents are unable to read or write. Because of this, we are looking for a volunteer who is comfortable starting with foundational literacy skills and adapting lessons over time to support learners at varying skill levels.

Many of the adults we serve are eager to strengthen their reading and writing abilities to better navigate daily life — from completing healthcare forms to building confidence and independence.

Qualifications: Experience teaching adults and/or teaching foundations of reading/writing

    Expectations:

    • Lead a consistent weekly literacy class in a supportive, respectful environment
    • Teach foundational reading and writing skills
    • Adapt instruction to meet different learning levels
    • Coordinate with staff for scheduling and support
