    About CALEC

    CALEC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting multilingual literacy, education access, and cultural understanding. Through its publishing initiatives and digital learning platforms, CALEC develops and distributes bilingual and multilingual books for children, families, and schools worldwide.

    CALEC titles are published in print via print-on-demand platforms and distributed digitally to libraries and educational institutions.

    Role Overview

    We are seeking volunteers to help expand the reach of CALEC publications to libraries, schools, and independent bookstores. Volunteers will assist with outreach, research, and partnerships that help bring multilingual books to more readers around the world.

    This role is ideal for individuals interested in publishing, libraries, literacy programs, and international education.

    What You Will Do

    Volunteers may assist with:

    • Researching public libraries, school libraries, and bookstore networks
    • Identifying acquisition contacts at library systems
    • Supporting outreach to independent bookstores
    • Assisting with catalog and metadata preparation for library systems
    • Helping promote CALEC books to educators and literacy organizations
    • Supporting outreach to professional library associations
    • Assisting with preparation of a digital publisher catalog for libraries

    Publishing & Distribution Context

    CALEC titles are distributed through major publishing and digital platforms including:

    • Ingram Content Group
    • Kindle Direct Publishing
    • BoD – Books on Demand
    • Librantida

    Ebooks are distributed to libraries via:

    • CoreSource
    • De Marque

    Volunteers will help strengthen outreach to institutions that acquire books through these channels.

    Skills & Qualifications

    Preferred but not required:

    • Interest in books, publishing, or libraries
    • Strong research and communication skills
    • Interest in multilingual education and literacy
    • Familiarity with library systems or education networks is a plus
    • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
