    Description

    About Us:

The Alexander Review is an emerging literary publication dedicated to showcasing diverse voices, creative perspectives, and thoughtful discourse.

We are a volunteer-driven, remote team working across different time zones to publish curated issues, support writers, and expand our reach within the literary and creative space.

    Role Overview:

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Volunteer Graphic Designer to support our visual branding and content creation efforts. This role is ideal for someone with 1 or more years of graphic design experience who is passionate about storytelling, branding, and creating engaging visual content. The selected volunteer will play a key role in establishing and strengthening our visual identity while supporting ongoing design initiatives across multiple platforms.

    Responsibilities:

    • Design and develop a logo that reflects our mission, values, and visual identity.
    • Create branding assets and visual design elements for use across digital platforms.
    • Design graphics for social media, newsletters, website content, and promotional materials.
    • Help establish a cohesive visual identity and branding guidelines.
    • Collaborate with team members to translate ideas into compelling visual content.
    • Maintain consistency across all visual materials and brand assets.
    • Support publication launches, campaigns, events, and special projects through creative design work.
    • Organize and maintain design files for future use and collaboration.

    Qualifications:

    • 1 or more years of graphic design experience (professional, freelance, volunteer, or academic).
    • Experience creating logos, brand identities, or visual design projects.
    • Portfolio showcasing graphic design, branding, logo design, or visual identity work.
    • Proficiency with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma, or similar design tools.
    • Strong understanding of typography, layout, branding, color theory, and visual communication principles.
    • Excellent attention to detail and creativity.
    • Ability to manage time independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
    • Interest in literature, publishing, nonprofit organizations, or creative communities is a plus.

    Additional Details:

This is a volunteer position requiring approximately 2 hours per week. The role is fully remote with a flexible schedule and communication primarily through Slack.

A minimum commitment of 3 months is preferred; however, volunteers who are available for a 6-month commitment are encouraged to apply.

This opportunity offers hands-on experience, portfolio-building projects, creative ownership, and the chance to help shape the visual identity of a growing nonprofit publication dedicated to amplifying diverse voices and creative expression.
