    ESL Co-coordinator

    Are you passionate about education and community service? Do you want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of day laborers by helping them improve their English language skills? The Day Worker Center of Mountain View is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Volunteer ESL Coordinator to join our team!

    Position Overview:

    As the Volunteer ESL Co-coordinator, you will play a key role in managing and enhancing our English as a Second Language (ESL) program, which is vital for improving the communication skills of our workers. You will share the role with another volunteer and work closely with the Executive Director, staff, volunteers, and community members to ensure that our ESL classes are executed to the needs of our participants.

    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate and manage the ESL program, including class scheduling and
    • curriculum development.
    • Train, and support volunteer ESL instructors
    • Work with day laborers to assess their English proficiency and learning goals.
    • Develop and implement teaching materials and lesson plans.
    • Maintain communication with staff and instructors to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement of the program.
    • Provide feedback to instructors and ensure alignment with the learner's; needs.
    • Organize events or activities that enhance language practice for learners outside the classroom.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience in teaching or coordinating ESL programs is preferred.
    • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people, including non-English speakers.
    • Patience, compassion, and a passion for education and community development.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
