Stoop Stories connects New York City neighbors across generations and differences to reduce loneliness and increase compassion and joy. Through documentary stories and community events, we celebrate stoop culture and highlight underrepresented communities.

Who we're looking for: An experienced HR professional to advise on team management and recruitment of volunteers, board members and freelancers. Help us build a structured, repeatable approach to volunteer and board recruitment and onboarding, including how we source and evaluate candidates, how we welcome new team and board members, and how we align recruitment with our organization's values and strategic needs going forward.

The ideal candidate has:

• Experience in talent mangement and strategy, recruitment, and/or nonprofit team and governance support
• Familiarity with nonprofit and employment best practices
• Experience designing onboarding programs or orientation materials
• Comfort translating an organization's strategic priorities into a candidate profile
• Clear, professional written communication for process documentation
• Ability to work independently and deliver polished, reusable templates

Responsibilities:

• Review our current recruitment approach
• Design a structured process for sourcing, screening, and evaluating board candidates
• Recommend outreach channels appropriate for board-level candidates
• Build a board skills/expertise matrix aligned to our strategic priorities
• Design an onboarding checklist and timeline for new board members
• Advise on a sustainable cadence for ongoing recruitment
