    Description

    Hospice Vigil Volunteers

At Caretenders Hospice, now affiliated with LHC healthcare group, we understand that volunteers are an integral part of end of life care and there are times in life when the most important thing is having someone near, feeling that you are not alone. We strive to make a patient's last moments peaceful and comfortable.

"Our fingerprints don't fade from the lives we touched."--Judy Blume

Caretenders Hospice is in search of volunteer companions willing to provide Vigil volunteering support to patients who are actively passing away (In the last 24-48 hours of life) as well as provide bereavement support for the members of the family during this time in their lives.

Duties of Vigil Volunteers may include allowing caregivers/family members the ability to leave the bedside of their loved one and sleep, sit with residents who are alone and provide a calming environment for them in their last hours, or sit with residents who are agitated but calm when someone is sitting with them.

Our volunteer companions are the true embodiment of Caretenders Hospice’s mission of enriching the lives of those we serve with compassion, respect, excellence, and integrity in their final journey in life.

Caretenders Hospice serves people residing in their own residence, which may include private homes, skilled nursing facilities, assisted and independent living communities, and memory care units. We have volunteer positions open in the North Metro(Anoka, Champlin, Blaine, North Oaks),Central Metro(Minneapolis, Saint Paul), South Metro(Edina, Eagan, Bloomington), and the West Metro(Minnetonka, Plymouth, Eden Prairie).

Due to the nature of 11th Hour Volunteering. The volunteer should be able to be flexible with their volunteering hours with the possibility of late or overnight hours. Our volunteers are provided with all the training they may need and given the full support of our dedicated Caretenders Hospice Team.

Vigil Volunteering is flexible and rewarding. See how you can impact a patient and their family simply by being present. Our Volunteer Manager, Dana, looks forward to hearing from you and start you on your journey.

"If you think you're too small to make a difference, try sleeping in a closed room with a mosquito."
