    Description

Cards for Seniors "Senior Citizens Day!"

Everyday Family Service Association provides meals to over 2,000 homebound seniors. Homebound individuals are more likely to feel isolated, have unmet care needs and less access to nutritious meals.

Summer can be particularly difficult for seniors. Living on a fixed income often doesn't allow for running their air conditioning and, if they don't drive, running everyday errands can be extra difficult in the heat. This August, as we deliver meals to homebound seniors, across two counties, we would love to include an uplifting card to help them feel loved.

Be creative! Host a card making party! Enlist your family, your students, your social groups, even your local community leaders. Your message should be kind, simple, and fun, and such that it will connect to a broad range of people. Jokes always seem to be a hit. Since we don't know the recipients' religious affiliations, we ask that the cards kindly leave out any religious references.

    • Fun Fact:

We serve a high number of Spanish speaking seniors. If you have the ability to create cards in Spanish that would be extra awesome!

Cards should be delivered by August 7th to:

How to Volunteer for This Opportunity

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with our organization! We’re excited to hear that you’re eager to get involved. Each year, the Family Service Association (FSA) serves thousands of meals to seniors in our community, offering both congregate and home-delivered meals to those in need. Many of our senior clients face isolation, and your involvement in making these cards helps remind them that they are valued, remembered, and cared for. For special holidays, we ask volunteers to create and send cards to brighten the day of our senior clients.

FSA can sign off 1 hour for 10 cards, up a maximum of 5 hours for 50 cards for community service student hours. Spanish cards are highly desired. You may mail a copy of your community service form with the cards, and it will be signed and returned via email.

FSA is focusing on Senior Citizens Day August 21, 2026. We invite you to participate by creating homemade or store-bought cards with a friendly message. If you use an envelope, please leave it unsealed. To ensure all seniors feel included, we kindly ask that you refrain from including any overtly religious messages; however, words like "blessings" or "blessed" are fine.

You may drop in person or mail your completed cards to the following address by August 7, 2026:

    Family Service Association

21250 Box Springs Rd, Suite 212

    Moreno Valley, CA 92557

    Next Card Events:

    Thanksgiving Day – November 2026

    Valentines Day – February 2027

Thank you for considering this meaningful opportunity to connect with and brighten the lives of our seniors. If you have any questions or need more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
