    Position Title: Community Outreach Volunteer

    Organization: Love Your Texture (LYT)

    Position Type: Volunteer (unpaid)

    Position Overview

The Community Outreach Volunteer helps Love Your Texture (LYT) build relationships with local partners, churches, schools, agencies, and community members to increase awareness of LYT’s mission and connect families and supporters to our programs and events. This role focuses on communication, coordination, and presence at outreach activities rather than direct service with youth.

    Role Details

    • Position type: Volunteer (unpaid)
    • Schedule: 10–20 hours per week, with a mix of flexible remote work and occasional evenings or weekends for community events (if needed)
    • Location: Remote and in-person within the Phoenix greater metro and surrounding areas, depending on events (if needed)
    • Reports to: Administrator

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist with community outreach to engage agencies, caregivers, and potential partners in LYT programs, events, and informational sessions.
    • Conduct outreach communication (emails, calls, messages) to churches, schools, community organizations using LYT-approved scripts and templates.
    • Support planning and coordination of outreach activities, such as resource fairs, partner meetings, and information tables (scheduling, confirmations, logistics).
    • Help maintain basic outreach records, such as contact lists, sign-in sheets, and simple data entry for follow-up.
    • Assist with distributing outreach materials (flyers, digital posts, handouts) using content provided by LYT.
    • Represent LYT in a professional and mission-aligned manner at community events, sharing key messages about our services and how to connect with us.
    • Attend occasional virtual or in-person check-ins, orientations, and trainings as scheduled.

    Skills and Qualities

    • Heart for serving the community including foster, adopted, and neurodiverse youth and their caregivers, and alignment with LYT’s faith-informed, dignity-centered mission.
    • Comfortable talking with people, asking questions, and sharing clear information in person and by phone or email.
    • Organized, reliable, and able to follow through on assigned outreach tasks and follow-up steps.
    • Basic comfort with technology (email, Google Workspace, simple spreadsheets or forms); training provided as needed.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow LYT policies and procedures, including social media and privacy guidelines.

    Boundaries and Expectations

    • This role does not provide direct services or one-on-one care to youth; all work is focused on outreach, communication, and support tasks.
    • Volunteers are required to accurately track and log their volunteer hours using LYT’s tracking process for each outreach activity and task.
    • A brief weekly report summarizing hours served, activities completed, and any key follow-up needs must be submitted by the end of each week.
    • Volunteers are expected to follow LYT’s safety, confidentiality, and communication policies at all times and to avoid taking or sharing images or personal details of youth without explicit organizational approval.

    Impact of This Role

By helping LYT build strong community connections, the Community Outreach Volunteer plays a key part in making sure caregivers, youth, and partners know about available support, education, and resources. Your consistent presence and communication help expand LYT’s reach so more families can access culturally responsive hair, skin, and life skills support.
