Kids Cooking Class Group Leaders

Join us at Sun Valley Kitchen + Community Center every Saturday afternoon for a hands-on, creative and empowering cooking class for our neighborhood youth!

Each Saturday from 1:00-3:00 afternoon, Sun Valley Kitchen + Community center offers a two-hour class that takes elementary school students from the preparation through to the enjoyment of a collectively prepared meal with varying components and diverse ingredients. Meals are globally inspired and have ranged from sushi (a crowd favorite) to chocolate pizza, and everything in between!

What you will do:

Support our youth in having a structured and rounded experience that is closed out by enjoying a meal together. Greet youth upon arrival, help them get signed in and set up for success with any materials they may need and a grounding check-in or exercise. Volunteer position is from 12:45-3:30.

Our facilitator will have recipes and ingredients prepared for our students and will lead the majority of the day’s class. All we need from you is to guide a group of 3-6 students in completing their group’s recipe, help to maintain kitchen safety and guidance with activities during any down time, and finally, making sure tasks like table set-up and break-down are completed! We love to have our volunteers dine alongside our young people, strengthening a community environment.
