    Description

    International SEVA is a 100% volunteer‑run nonprofit based in Ashburn, VA, supporting under‑resourced and special‑needs children across Gujarat (India), Central Africa, and U.S. Title 1 schools. We believe every child deserves dignity, confidence, and access to learning — no matter where they live.

    We are launching a Virtual ESL Program for rural government school students in Gujarat, India, and we are seeking committed volunteers who can teach English as a Second Language via Zoom.

    How to Volunteer for This Opportunity

    Languages Required:

    • Must speak Hindi or Gujarati
    • Must speak English fluently

    Age Requirement: 18+

    Key Responsibilities (5 Core Areas)

    ESL Teaching & Lesson Delivery

    • Teach basic to intermediate English to rural students (ages 8–14)
    • Use simple, engaging methods suitable for first‑generation learners

    Cultural & Language Support

    • Communicate in Hindi or Gujarati as needed
    • Build trust with students who may be shy or first‑time Zoom users

    Classroom Coordination (Virtual)

    • Help students join Zoom sessions
    • Ensure audio/video setup is working - Note, internet connection is not always stable
    • Maintain a positive, encouraging learning environment

    Consistent Scheduling & Reliability

    • Commit to your chosen weekly time slot
    • Notify the coordinator in advance if you need to miss a session

    Collaboration & Reporting

    • Coordinate with International SEVA’s volunteer team
    • Share brief updates on attendance and student progress

    Ideal Volunteer Profile

    • Passionate about education and youth empowerment
    • Comfortable teaching beginners
    • Patient, reliable, and culturally sensitive
    • Familiar with Zoom or willing to learn
    • Prior teaching/tutoring experience is a plus but not required
