Patient Volunteer-Make Each Day Count as a Hospice Volunteer

Job description

At Hospice of Wilson, we understand that volunteers are an integral part of end-of-life care. Our volunteers make connections with those who need a hand to hold, a heart to listen, or have a story to share.

Volunteer companions provide our residents with social and emotional support. During visits, volunteers participate in activities with the residents such as reading the newspaper or books, taking walks, listening to music, sharing stories and reminiscing, or providing friendship by simply being present in their lives at that moment.

Volunteers should be:

1. Comfortable with engaging with people from all walks of life and with the elderly
2. Willing to go through additional training to help assist in their engagement ability
3. Able to be self-motivated to complete visits with patients in accordance with federal, state, and company guidelines
4. Willing to complete visit notes in accordance with federal, state, and company guidelines
