    About Dream Experiences

Dream Experiences is a Los Angeles–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit on a mission to bring joy-filled experiences to underserved youth and youth in foster care. We believe every kid deserves the moment the lights come up. We source donated access — tickets, passes, workshops, and mentorships — to create personalized, passion-driven experiences for young people facing hardship. These are not one-size-fits-all gifts; each experience is built around an individual child's passions to spark curiosity, open doors, and create lasting memories.

We're just one year old and very much in a growing phase — which is exactly what makes this such an exciting moment to join. We're building for scale and looking for people who want to help shape the future of the organization and grow the impact we have on the youth we serve. If you're energized by the idea of building something meaningful from an early stage, you'll be a great fit for our Board.

    About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated volunteer Board Member to serve as Treasurer. This is a hands-on governance role for someone who wants to put their financial expertise to work in service of a mission they care about. As Treasurer, you will be a voting member of our Board of Directors and our lead officer on all matters of financial oversight, helping ensure Dream Experiences remains fiscally healthy, transparent, and compliant as we scale. As one of a young organization's key financial leaders, you'll have an outsized opportunity to help build the systems, controls, and strategy that will carry us into our next chapter.

This is an unpaid, volunteer position. There is no salary, stipend, or other compensation associated with this role.

    Treasurer Responsibilities

    • Oversee the organization's financial health, including budgeting, cash flow, and financial planning.
    • Review and help present financial statements and reports to the Board of Directors at regular meetings.
    • Ensure accurate bookkeeping and maintenance of financial records.
    • Oversee and support the preparation and timely filing of tax and regulatory documents, including IRS Form 990 and California state filings, and help maintain the organization's 501(c)(3) compliance and good standing.
    • Support internal financial controls, policies, and best practices.
    • Support the annual audit or financial review process, if and when applicable.
    • Advise the Board on financial implications of organizational decisions and strategy.
    • Participate actively as a full voting member of the Board, attending board meetings and contributing to the organization's overall governance.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Genuine motivation and enthusiasm for our mission of bringing joy to underserved youth and children in foster care.
    • Reside in the greater Los Angeles area.
    • Ability to commit approximately ~2-3 hours per/week to the organization.

    Preferred

    • Experience supporting nonprofit financial management, including familiarity with nonprofit accounting, compliance, and tax filings (e.g., Form 990).
    • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license.
    • Prior nonprofit board or governance experience.
    • Fundraising or development experience.

    What You'll Gain

    • A meaningful opportunity to directly shape the trajectory of a growing nonprofit and the lives of the youth we serve.
    • A voice in organizational strategy and governance as a full member of our Board.
    • The chance to apply your professional skills toward creating unforgettable experiences for kids who need them most.
