Volunteer Business Mentor — Help Local Entrepreneurs Succeed

SCORE Broward | Broward County, Florida | Flexible / Hybrid

Do you have business experience you’d enjoy sharing with others?

SCORE Broward is looking for volunteer mentors to help local small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs start, grow, and strengthen their businesses. Our clients come to us with all kinds of questions — how to write a business plan, find customers, manage cash flow, price their services, hire employees, market online, or simply figure out what to do next.

As a SCORE volunteer mentor, you don’t need to have all the answers. You bring your experience, judgment, patience, and curiosity — and you become part of a supportive team of people who care about helping small businesses succeed.

    What volunteer mentors do

SCORE mentors meet one-on-one with clients to listen, ask good questions, share practical guidance, and help business owners think through their next steps. Mentoring may take place by Zoom, phone, email, or in person, depending on the mentor’s availability and the client’s needs.

You may help clients with topics such as:

    • Business planning
    • Marketing and sales
    • Financial management and cash flow
    • Operations and systems
    • Hiring and leadership
    • Customer service
    • Nonprofit management
    • Technology, websites, or social media
    • Starting a new business
    • Growing an existing business

    Who we’re looking for

We welcome people with experience as business owners, executives, managers, consultants, nonprofit leaders, bankers, marketers, accountants, HR professionals, educators, or operations specialists.

Retired, semi-retired, and working professionals are all welcome.

You do not need to be an expert in every area of business. Many of our best mentors are people who know how to listen carefully, think clearly, and help others make better decisions.

    Time commitment

The schedule is flexible. Many mentors volunteer a few hours a month, while others choose to be more involved. We’ll work with your availability.

    Why volunteer with SCORE Broward?

SCORE Broward is part of a national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping small businesses succeed. Our local chapter provides free, confidential mentoring and educational programs to entrepreneurs throughout Broward County.

As a volunteer, you’ll have the chance to:

    • Help local entrepreneurs build stronger businesses
    • Use your experience in a meaningful way
    • Meet other talented and community-minded professionals
    • Stay engaged with the local business community
    • Make a practical difference in someone’s life and livelihood
