Our clients are experiencing homelessness and require entry into a homeless shelter, domestic violence shelter, rehabilitation facility, or hospital. Everyone experiencing homelessness suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from the isolation and harsh reality of daily living. Our clients have faced very difficult lives and have previously refused help because they wouldn't abandon their companion animals.
The Whole Families Program provides our clients with the security of our foster care program for their companion animals. They are now taking steps to improve their lives and rely on us to ensure the happiness and health of their best friend, and sometimes only companion. This work is crucial, difficult, demanding, and enlightening. We are saving lives – not only the person's, but also the pet's by keeping them out of the animal shelter system. These are just a few of the many reasons that people and their pets need the help of the Whole Families Program (WFP).
You can help keep Whole Families together! We need foster homes located throughout New Jersey that are able to take a companion animal and care for them for one (1) to six (6) months until their pet parent is able to take them back. PFA will provide pet food, supplies and veterinary care while you provide a loving home and attention.
Fill out the Volunteer Application. PFA’s Development Manager will respond to all incoming inquiries with an email containing our Virtual Orientation materials & schedule a phone interview with you to review the requirements and responsibilities of your volunteer opportunity. Please allow for up to five (5) business days for a personalized response.
