    Description

    Caritas University Volunteer Training Modules

    Time Commitment:

4 hours per week for up to 3 months (or until project completion)

    On-Site Volunteer Schedule:

All volunteer hours for this project must be completed in-person at our office during the following windows:

    • Monday or Tuesday: 9:30am – 4:30pm
    • Wednesday or Thursday: 9:30am – 1:00pm
    • Friday: 9:30am – 12:00pm

No evening or weekend hours are available for this role.

    About the Project:

Our nonprofit works in complex, high-context spaces serving neighbors experiencing homelessness. We want to make our work more accessible and understandable for new volunteers by creating a set of 10–16 clear, engaging training modules that introduce each program and department. These modules will be shared through a simple link and will help new volunteers feel confident, informed, and ready to support our mission. There will be a quick knowledge test at the end of each module.

    Role Overview:

We are seeking a creative community member NOT AN INTERN who enjoys transforming information into engaging learning experiences. You’ll collaborate closely with a staff teammate who provides the vision, gathers the necessary content, and serves as your thought partner. Your role is to take this raw information and bring it to life through well-designed, intuitive training modules.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Translate high-context program information into accessible and engaging training modules.
    • Design 10–16 online learning modules using the platform or tools we choose together.
    • Create structure, flow, visuals, and storytelling to help new volunteers understand our work.
    • Ask thoughtful questions to ensure clarity and accuracy.
    • Work collaboratively with staff to refine drafts and finalize modules.

    What You Bring:

    • Experience creating training, educational content, or e-learning modules.
    • Comfort working independently and creatively within a shared vision.
    • Curiosity and willingness to ask questions.
    • Ability to simplify complex information for people outside the organization.
    • Alignment with our mission and a genuine care for ending homelessness.

Who This Role Is Not For:

This opportunity is not an internship and is not intended for school credit or professional training programs. We are looking for a community member volunteering their time, skills, and heart to support their neighbors.

    Why This Role Matters:

High-quality, accessible training helps more community members step in, understand our work, and join us in making real impact. Your creativity will directly support volunteer readiness and increase our capacity to serve people experiencing homelessness.
