    Description

Pop-up book sale at community event in Hancock Park

Carpe Librum is a used bookstore benefiting Turning the Page, an education nonprofit dedicated to developing literacy programs for elementary and middle school students in Wards 7 and 8. We will be popping up at the Southwest Out to Lunch community event in Hancock Park for fundraising book sales through 2026: Wednesdays, May 13, June 10, September 9, and October 14. We will need volunteers to help us set up in the morning and box up in the afternoon. This is a great opportunity to spend an hour or two supporting literacy and positive educational outcomes in the DC public school students.

    Can you lend a hand?

The first shift is from 10 am-11:30 am, helping to set up tables and shelve books by genre.

The second shift is from 2 pm-3:30 pm, helping to pack up books.

If interested, sign up and we will reach out with more details. Thank you!

(By the way, we’re not just any bookstore: we’re a fundraising bookstore! Carpe Librum collects donated books, CDs, and DVDs to support the DC nonprofit Turning the Page.)
