    Description

Are you a veteran or serving active duty? Would you like to help Sutter Care at Home-Sutter North Hospice honor and thank our hospice patients and their families for their service? Would you like to be a patient volunteer to visit our patients, including our patients who are veterans? Veterans and Active Military have a special connection and ability to relate with other veterans. At End-of-Life, being able to spend time with a veteran and listen to their experiences and stories is very important to many of our veterans and their families. There are several different ways to be a Veteran Volunteer. There are more requirements to volunteer directly with our patients than working indirectly with our patients.

Sutter Care at Home-Sutter North Hospice is looking for compassionate individuals who are interested in volunteering with Sutter North Hospice. There are many opportunities to volunteer which include relieving a very tired caregiver, providing emotional support and companionship to the patient and/or caregiver, honoring our veterans, adult and child bereavement services - "Grief and Loss Groups", volunteering in our office and making and donating quilts and pillowcases to our patients. Our office is located in Yuba City and we serve Yuba and Sutter Counties and portions of Butte, Placer and Plumas Counties. We also serve Colusa. No experience is required - we provide volunteers with thorough training and on-going support. The greatest gift you can offer is your time, your caring nature and your willingness to listen.

Volunteer Requirements for In-Direct Patient Care with We our veterans program: In-person interview, application and education on the We Honor Veterans program and how you may be able to help our veterans. Opportunities include writing cards and letters, helping volunteer at the local Stand-Down and honoring veterans on Veterans Day.
