    POSITION SUMMARY:

    PACE Volunteers support patients and families during their time at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital and Clinics. We do that by guiding or bringing patients and families to their appointments, helping departments in the building share information, and supporting the hospital's processes to ensure patient experiences are as good as possible. Duties include:

    Available to transport & or assist with transport of patients and patient related materials campus wide. Able to perform additional functions as directed by the

    Volunteer Coordinator.

    AGES OF PATIENTS CARED FOR: Child, adolescent, adult, elderly

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of training course provided in house including but not limited to: Body mechanics, knowledge of hospital/clinic location of departments and services.

    Experience: None. Technical skills a plus. Customer service background a plus.

    Attributes: Must be independent, self-starter with good communication skills. Multi-tasking skills a plus. Friendly, energetic, professional, empathetic personality with positive attitude.

    Special Skills: Good interpersonal skills. Good public relations skills with the ability to remain calm, collected and pleasant in numerous interactions during busy shift.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Pushing/Pulling: Wheelchair or assist with cart/bed throughout hospital on

    Carpet or tile surface. (40lbs.)

    Standing: Able to stand in place for 15-30 minutes

    Walking: Able to be on feet - (walking/standing) for majority of shift

    Reaching: Some bending necessary

    Vision: Necessary

    Hearing: Necessary

    Fine Motor Coordination: Necessary

    MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Transport patients in wheelchairs/or assist with transport of patent in cart/bed. (assist with guiding patient to wheelchair)
    2. Demonstrate understanding of how to properly use a wheelchair, staxi and transcart.
    3. Transport clean patient related items.
    4. Verify correct patient and location.
    5. Maintain safety, quality and infection control.
    6. Communicate with dispatch and units.
    7. Maintain log of activities as required.
    8. Function as a team member.
    9. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned during downtime.
    10. Demonstrate how to correctly answer telephone and ask for request clarification.
