Grant Research & Writing Volunteer — Retired/Semi-Retired Professional

• Ohlone Humane Society is seeking a retired or semi-retired professional with strong research, writing, analytical, or nonprofit experience to help expand our grant-funding opportunities.
• This is an ongoing role requiring consistent daytime availability and follow-through.
• Ideal backgrounds include grant writing, research, journalism, communications, education, nonprofit administration, business, proposal writing, or project management.
• Previous animal-welfare experience is not required; we will provide information about OHS programs and services.
• Approximately 4–6 hours per week, with flexibility depending on grant deadlines.
• Ability to research funding opportunities, determine whether they are appropriate for OHS, organize information, and meet agreed deadlines.
• Strong writing, editing, attention to detail, and organizational skills are important.
• Comfortable working independently while communicating regularly with OHS staff/volunteers.
• Retired and semi-retired professionals with time available during weekdays are especially encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities may include:

• Researching pre-selected foundations and other potential funding sources.
• Identifying grants that fit OHS programs and priorities.
• Maintaining a grant-opportunity database/calendar.
• Reviewing grant guidelines and eligibility requirements.
• Submitting letters of inquiry and grant applications.
• Gathering information and documentation needed for proposals.
• Tracking deadlines, submissions, and follow-up.
